Welcome Home Appeal

A Community Project Coordinated by CCS Disability Action - West Coast

The Project:
To construct an accessible three bedroom home on donated land in Paroa for families who have members with disabilities and are in need of a family holiday or as respite for caregivers.

What We Want To Achieve:
To build an accessible home that will showcase the latest in design features and accommodate people with a range of disabilities, including wheelchair access and amenities, Braille rugs and hearing loops.

To raise the awareness of the issues people with disabilities face daily, in homes not specifically designed for them.

To offer a home that welcomes everyone and enables them to enjoy a holiday with family and friends.

To showcase the wonderful West Coast environment and its spirit within reach of excellent tourism attractions and activities.

To undertake a project involving the whole community, uniting the efforts of all people on the West Coast.

To provide a much needed facility.

To create a model that builders and home buyers will think about, raising the awareness of the needs of people with disabilities as well as the aged and infirm.

To offer independence to all people and to respect the need of everyone to feel comfortable and safe within their own home.
